We've Never Been Content to Follow the Crowd
Since our founding in 2004 in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, YOWEC has grown into a trailblazing non-governmental, non-profit organization committed to empowering youth and women.
Why We Exist
YOWEC was born in response to a rising socio-economic crisis: a generation of Nigerian youth, particularly in the Niger Delta, adrift in pessimism, moral decline, and disengagement from education, hard work, and community life. We refused to accept these trends.
The YOWEC Difference
Our approach is audacious, pragmatic, and integrative — cutting across multiple sectors, issues, and communities. We don't believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. We believe in doing what works, even if it means going against the grain.
Where We're Headed
We envision a Nigeria where youth dream again, where women rise, and where communities become centers of innovation, resilience, and growth. We're scaling our models of digital and financial inclusion across more states.
Behind every program is a human face. A story of struggle turned into strength. Of helplessness turned into hope.
We don't just offer programs. We rewrite life narratives.
